Dr Robin Chesters (Chair)
Schooled in Clydebank and Glasgow, obtained a doctorate by studying the bacteria in sewage, but was then drawn into the world of museums by the love of old machines and industrial dereliction. After working in a number of Scottish museums was appointed in 1990 as the first paid employee of Almond Valley Heritage Trust, and now serves there as Director. Currently chair of West Lothian Tourism Forum.

I am married with 2 teenage children.  I have lived in Linlithgow for just over 10 years and have always felt that it is a great place to live. Over the years both my children have been involved in many different activities within the town as has my husband.  My son plays for the Rugby Club under 15's and my daughter dances with Marion Sweeney school of dance. I have been a member of Linlithgow & Linlithgow Bridge Gala Committee for the past 6 years and am now also Secretary of The West Lothian Grapevine Twinning Association.  I work as PA to the Provost of West Lothian and have been with the Council for just over 7 years.
John Aitken (Webmaster)
John Aitken has been involved in the local community for many years.  He is a founder member and canal boat driver with Linlithgow Union Canal Society, Newsletter Editor of Linlithgow Civic Trust , Vice-Chair of Pride & Passion Linlithgow, webmaster for Linlithgow.com and Secretary of Linlithgow Community Arts Association which runs the annual Celebrate Linlithgow arts festival.   He is a director of Carers of West Lothian and a keen curler, secretary of Abercorn Curling Club.  He lives in Linlithgow with wife Lyn and local Internet services company "Linnet".

David Evans, Radio Grapevine
David Evans is the Membership Secretary with 'Radio Grapevine', a voluntary hospital radio station broadcasting to St John's Hospital in Livingston.  David became involved when he realised the obvious links between the radio station and a certain town in Texas!  He would like to see an official link set up between a local station in Grapevine and our own hospital broadcasting service.  David has lived in West Lothian all his life and has been involved in Radio Grapevine for over 10 years.  In order to pay the bills, David works at the Head Offiice of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Councillor since May 2008 elected as independent for Action to Save St Johns Hospital  for Ward 2 Broxburn, Dechmont, Uphall, Winchburgh and Ecclesmachan.
I was very fortunate to visit Grapevine Texas in September 2007 with West Lothian Council this a wonderful trip the people were so friendly and showered us with love and sincere kindness. I have never experienced such warm and openness, by the end of my visit we developed great friendship with many people and it was indeed a pleasure to have met them all.

Councillor Peter Johnston, Leader of the Council
Peter Johnston is a Dundonian by birth but has lived in West Lothian since 1978.  He is a teacher by profession but better known in his role as a local councillor.  Peter was elected to represent Ladywell in Livingston in 1985 and has served continuously on West Lothian District Council and West Lothian Council since then.   Peter has been the Leader of the West Lothian SNP Council Group since 1992 and is currently the Leader of West Lothian Council.  He comments:
"I am a firm believer that friendship knows no boundaries and I am an enthusiastic supporter of the development of international links as these bring the West Lothian community closer to new friends and deliver educational, cultural and economic benefits."

Peter Kerr has worked for the last 5 years for Historic Scotland at Linlithgow Palace.  He has been married for 34 years, was in the Royal Tank Regiment for 9 years, worked as a truck driver for 23 years and has worked for Historic Scotland for the last 10 years.

Mary Shelton moved to Linlithgow in 1992 and now cannot imagine living anywhere else.  She is married with 2 grown-up sons and works as an Area Manager with West Lothian Library Services.
Councillor Jim Walker
Elected Member of West Lothian Council for Bathgate Ward.  Executive Councillor, Culture & Leisure.  30 Years Local Councillor on Bathgate Town Council, West Lothian District Council and West Lothian Council.   Member of West Lothian Twinning Association (Hochsauerland, Germany).   Interest include: Secretary Bathgate Procession Committee, Past Chieftain Bathgate Highland Games, President Newland Concert Brass Band, Committee Member Bathgate Thistle FC.and numerous other local associations. Married and lived all my life in Bathgate.
Amanda Young
Amanda Young, married with 3 year old daughter Kenzie Alex.  Born in Forres, graduated in Edinburgh, lives in Livingston.  On Open Door Committee (Homeless in West Lothian) and Chair of Newyearfield Farm Management Committee.  Member of Livingston Rotary Club for 6 years and was District Officer for Youth Activities.  Heavily involved in supporting and organising local community events.  Employed for 9 years as Manager of Howden Park Centre, the principal Arts Venue of West Lothian.
